SERMON NOTES from November 23, 2025
John Smay, Title of Sermon, ‘ Thanks-giving, Giving Thanks’
How heartfelt and meaningful are you when giving thanks?
Here are some scriptures about ‘Giving Thanks’.
1 Thessalonian 5:18-Give thanks all the time for it is God’s will.
Colossians 3:15-Give thanks for the peace in our hearts.
Philemon 1:4-Give thanks for friends.
Acts 5:41-Give thanks when you suffer persecution for Christ.
Psalm 7:17-Give thanks for God’s righteousness.
Philippians 4:6-Give thanks for being able to ask God for help.
Ephesians 5:20-Give thanks for everything.
Colossians 2:6-7-Give thanks for living in Jesus and faith.
What do you do in the morning when you awake? Give thanks.
Express your thankfulness to God and to others. Be thankful that you can give. Do it humbly with gratitude. Gratitude can be a weapon against evil. Express thanks for what Christ did for you and then be thankful for it from your heart. Give thanks for your salvation and what Jesus did on the cross. “I would rather stand with God than be judged by man”. You are judged by God on three things: Christianity (salvation), constitution (justice) and capitalism (livelihood).

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.
IN ALL THINGS… GIVE THANKS!
