Marge Thompson, ‘From the Depths of Despair’, Psalm 130:1-8
Have you ever been so angry with God that you told him what was on your mind? Did you ever want God to feel your pain? Did you ever walk away from God? Have you ever gotten down on your knees to confess your sins and ask for forgiveness? When you give up on God know that God doesn’t give up on you!
Psalm 130: King David was in a deep place. He cried out to the Lord for God to hear his voice. He knew for God to hear him it would help his people. Does God seem so far away? Psalm 130:2 If your faith is tested, don’t do it alone. You don’t have to. God is there to help you. All you have to do is ask him. David was defeated. He walked in faith. It’s better to have God hear your prayers than to be silent.
130:3 There is powerful strength in God’s preciousness. Recognize your sin. Go to God with your sin. He wants to hear from you. David knew his sin and the sins of his people. Receive the gift of sanctification. God will forgive you if you pray to him in faith. If you receive his gift of forgiveness… give great thanks then don’t forget what David did. He cried for mercy, waited for the Lord and put his hope in the Lord for him and his people. He was a watchman for his people. Watchmen look for change and wait and watch for the Lord. Ezekiel 3:21 You are being called upon to be watchmen to save people’s souls. Watchmen obey the 10 commandments, are non-judgmental, compassionate, caring, and self-sacrificing.
Reject evil in your life. Psalm 130:7 Put your hope in the Lord. Hope is the confident expectation of what God has promised even when life is difficult. Faith is the present. Hope is the future. Psalm 130:8 God has a personal involvement in the redemption of his people. No end to mercy, forgiveness or the power of God. John 3:16 Repent and believe. Do not reject salvation. Willingly accept God as #1 in your life. Share your faith and teachings. Have a spiritual journey with others. Take time out of your life to get reacquainted with God and then share it with others.
Remember these 3 R,s: Recognize your sin, reject the evil in your life and then replace the sin and the evil with the holy scriptures. live a cleaner life with Jesus. Be a watchman!
